Twenty-two years of two in the morning
Isla Ferguson started with one deck oven, a borrowed van and eleven cafés who said yes. This is how it grew.

The first Kelvin Loaf was a railway arch in Partick with one oven and no sign. Isla baked from midnight, delivered from five, and slept from ten. The name came from the river at the end of the street, and from the only thing she baked for the first two years.
By 2009 there were three bakers and a second van. By 2015 the arch next door. In 2019 Tomasz Zieliński arrived from Kraków and the croissant went from good to the one people drive across the city for. Aisha Bello built the cake list from nothing in 2021 and it is now a third of what leaves the building.
What has not changed
The flour comes from two Scottish mills. The sourdough starter is the one from 2004. Nothing is frozen, nothing is par-baked, and the counter still opens at seven for anyone who wants to buy a loaf without an account.
Rory Campbell runs wholesale and knows every customer by name and by what they forgot to order last week.
